Guest guest
Hi , I typed out a responce but hit the wrong key and I " m not sure if I sent it or not. I had to rethink this. I quit smoking in May of 2001 not 2000. (MY bad)and I was dx with Graves in July of 2001. I had been trying for a long time to quit and just couldnt do it until my heart rate was 120 resting. Does this help? Luci > Hi Luci: > > I'm curious about your quitting smoking. Guest guest
Thanks Lucy. It's interesting that you were diagnosed soon after quitting, that also happened to me. I read some articles a couple of years ago that talked about quitting smoking as a trigger to the onset of Graves. I know that my thyroid levels were already high before then, but the symptoms really flared up after I quit. In fact, that's one of the reasons I had a very late diagnosis - I didn't seek help for a few months because I thought I was just overly emotional and having withdrawal symptoms from not smoking. I started smoking again after a couple of years, and am now quitting again, and am a bit concerned about this aspect. It's academic as I would not let that be a reason to continue smoking. > I had to rethink this. I quit smoking in May of 2001 not 2000. (MY > bad)and I was dx with Graves in July of 2001. Guest guest
Hi , I wish you all the luck to quit again. I was a long time smoker. I started in my very early teens, and I never thought I could do it. My husband didnt think so either, because when I tryed to stop I would cry for days and be very very nasty, so I just always went back. Like I said before if it werent for poptarts and the patch I dont know if I would really have been able to cope. Again good luck trying to quit!!! Luci > > I had to rethink this.
