Guest guest
Hi Amy, I'm not sure if anyone answered your post, so forgive me if I am repeating. Why not try the medication as your form of treatment and shoot for remission, especially since you seem to have a mild case? Why consider surgery? Please read all you can about your treatment options, especially since you are thinking about a permanent choice like surgery. I also have a mild case of GD, and am doing well on the medication, at a very low dose after only a couple of months. I would not consider surgery at this point, as there is no reason to do it right now. I would opt for surgery as a last resort, and would never consider RAI. As long as the medication works for me, I will continue with it. These are my choices, but everyone needs to make their own decisions. I would recommend you read Elaine 's book, Graves' Disease: A Practical Guide. Also, please read the archives at Graves' Support, as well as the Files section (in particular Pam Brisse's welcome letter to the newly diagnosed) http://groups.yahoo.com/group/graves_support/files/, and the Thyroid Awareness 101 thread at Mediboard.com http://www.mediboard.com/ubb/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=1;t=004549. Let us know if you have any questions.
