Guest guest
Hi , I am a few posts behind with the different time zones and I see Terry has already answered your query on acupuncture much better than I would have been able to. She is absolutely right, acupuncture should not be painful at all.I do not feel them being inserted and only occasionally when they are being manipulated do I get a tingling sensation. My first experience with it was almost thirty years ago and it was to treat migraine, The doctor that time inserted needles close to my eyes and also along the back of my skull and I felt almost nothing. Only four weekly treatments and I have never had another migraine. With that very positive experience I had no hesitation in going back to see what hcould be done about the pain in my feet. Now that he says he has other thyroid patients I will see what he can do for that too. I agree with Terry and her husband that TCM herbal medicine would have more effect on the thyroid and the immune system (I took the powered herbs for nine months and only gave up on that when my doctor in Shanghai changed hospitals) than acupuncture. However I am hoping that if it just means inserting a few more needles then this acupuncturist may as well try to treat at least some of the symptoms. Do read up on it beforehand so you are comfortable with the thinking behind it and have an idea of what to expect. Then if you want to go ahead find the best acupuncturist in your area. Good luck.
