Guest guest
Hey Tonya, I'm comfortable with the Inject-Ease now, but I never had the chance to get comfortable with the pen. Dr H nixed that before we ever started B's GH shots. She suspected that B was insulin resistant, and in premature adrenarche, and insisted that we use the syringe so that we could fine tune dosage. The pen device that we were trained on seemed easy enough. During the training we were told to set the dosage, put the pen down firmly on B's thigh, click the button and count to 5. With the syringe there is no counting. We just set the Inject-Ease on his thigh, click the button, push the plunger, and lift. When I have to give B his shots all by myself, I have him sit, straddling my lap, facing me. Then twisting slightly so that my shoulder, and arm block his hands from grabbing anything, I pinch his thigh with my L hand, and inject with the R. He really can't pull away, or try to stop what I am doing in this position. For a while B was pushing the button on the Inject-Ease himself, but after his Synergis shots started, he started freaking out on me when it was time for his shot. I don't think it hurts, because he never used to complain, but the Synergis shots ALWAYS DO!! The county nurse, that gives the vaccine, always leaves big bruises, and since the Synergis takes two shots, both thighs are affected. Hope this helps Pat (g-ma to , RSS, 34 months, 23.9#, 32.2 " , G-Tube)
