Guest guest
Thank you for your responses Aileen and Terry. The article that you posted, Aileen, was particularly useful, and I will take that to my doctor the next time I see her. I truly believe that the small risk entailed using ATD's is nothing compared to the risk that a person takes having RAI or surgery. And I am definitely in the club that wonders why a healthy thyroid should be removed because of an incorrectly functioning immune system. Also while I am here typing I would like to say a huge " THANKS " to the person who originally put the spreadsheet for monitoring the hormone levels out here on the board. I have been using that to monitor my levels, and took it with me to my PCP when I asked her to take over. It was a great visual aid, especially when she was querying as to how long I had been on ATD's. I said, " yes, I have been on ATD's for two years, but look at this... the first year I went from hyperT, to hypoT, to hyperT, to HypoT.. it took at least a year for me to even stabilize, let alone start seeing a steady improvement. " . So even though the doctors say we should be on the ATD's for 1-2 years they should take into account the history first, before they rush anybody to decrease their dosage. So anyways, I thoroughly recommend maintaining s spreadsheet of thyroid levels, with attached graph. You may find it VERY useful at a later date. Take care, Katy.
