Guest guest
Hi , I recently had an echocardiogram done to check for heart damage; I believe it's more informative than an EKG as it images the heart in action. I had had palpitations and rapid heart rate since last summer. I started PTU and a calcium channel blocker (no beta blocker due to asthma) in Sept. and was finally able to wean off the calcium channel blocker in May. I still get palpitations and rapid heart rate at times before my peiod or if I'm upset. I also have a mitral valve prolapse, which can cause palpitations on its own. The echocrdiogram showed some thickening of one valve but basically normal function, so it was reassuring. My GP coordinated the test for me. As far as I know the fatty liver would be more apt to cause digestive problems than heart and problems. I do wonder about the Arnour, as it is said to cause some palpitations and perhaps you're very sensitive. I've had no noticeable side effects from Synthroid except that my menstrual cycle, which was changing along with my thyroid levels, is currently completely mixed up (endo says it's menopause but my Granny didn't get hers till 60 so at 49 I'm not yet convinced!). In my case, an extended period of " heart workout " seems to have caused little lasting damage. Maybe your GP could run an echo and get a baseline check for you. Best wishes, B.
