Guest guest
I just posted earlier this week as a new member of this list. My son is not on the spectrum but has Sensory Integration Dys BIGTIME, craves proprioceptive contact, and is " hand flapping while hopping stim-man " .He has secondary anxiety and a mild expressive speech problem due to the SId. He speaks really well and articulates well but gets things jumbled sometimes on their way out. Difficulty with " wh " questions. He's a little over 4.5 yrs. ANYWAY, his dev ped (who dx him)wants me to go yeast free for 1 week then add nystatin or diflucan. Then after a week of the diet and anitfungal see how he's doing. After 2 more weeks of yf and antifungal (1 month total) if she doesn't see major changes, she wants me to go cf for 3 weeks and if there's no significant improvement then, tack on the gf. Along with this stuff Ben will be doing OT and ST. Ok. Ben is a SUAGRHOLIC. Since his dx I have been really paying more attn to how often he wants something sugary. My GOD, I thought I was bad!! This kid is AMAZING! Not an hour elapses and he needs more sweet stuff: candy, cookies, ice cream etc... What the heck am I gonna feed him? I know from my research that kid on gf/cf do have sugar. Ben is not going to be allowed much of anything. I am petrified, just PETRIFIED of living with him when those yeastie beasies die off. I know this may sound stupid, I mean I'm 35 and he's almost 5. I am bigger and stronger (and smarter) than he is, yet Ben's reaction (and I KNOW IT'LL BE BAD) has got me feeling like a little kid myself. I am mentally running away in my mind. Scared to face this and the work it involves. Yet I know I HAVE to do this. How do I start. If anyone is willing to give me a step by step guide to revamping the pantry and fridge and a few easy yeast free things I can feed him that first week I would be ETERNALLY GRATEFUL! I live in Atlanta and have a great Farmer's Market and a Whole Foods nearby. I have ADHD and the only stimulant I take for it is coffee and then, not even that regularly. I get VERY EASILY OVERWHELMED! That's why, in order for me to really stick to this for my son's sake, I need to do this in small steps and slowly. I am great at researching and horrible at implementation. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!! What does NT mean???when placed after a child's name??? 11, Ben 4.5 SId.(very stimmy), Autumn 15mos.
