Guest guest
Good Morning Aldyth, Yep...morning here. :-) You say this with TOO much assurance my dear... *I'm not pregnant by the way*. ( wink) My best advice is turn off the computer and cuddle hubby. But that is not what you asked. :-) Period problems are pretty common with us. The general rule of thumb is : hyper: shorter duration and further apart hypo: longer duration and closer together That said.. we are all different. Period issues were the only reason I was ever at the doctors before Graves', and I was there more than anyone else I happen to know. My life was ruled by this. My Mom and I both had heavy, fill your shoes periods ( I kid you not), every two weeks...that always lasted for two weeks There is not a thing any doctor can say that I have not heard or been put through. Then they stopped for well over a year . Oh Happy day ! BUT.... then came Graves'. Once on my PTU and almost stable... the darn periods came back. :-( There was 'that' day... " I am a woman again " . LOL, Puberty twice ! The odd thing is I then had periods like the books say they are supposed to be? Less than a week , no real pain, and ONE box of product. Gotta tell you... if THIS is what periods are... I really do not understand what those women whine about all the time? ( sorry... I have always wanted to SAY that) I never knew it was not supposed to hurt all the time. And my wardrobe increased tremendously because I was not having to throw at least one thing in the trash every month because no amount of magic laundry solutions would get the stains out. We won't even talk about sheets. :-( Now the reason I tell you all this in because NOW, looking back over the years, my thyroid symptoms have been with me since late childhood. I believe' I was very hyper several times ( as in years) and quite hypo other years. Sounds a bit nuts, and only after my ups and downs on PTU can I actually say this with confidence. For example... the couple of times I ended in emergency because of periods that would not stop without medical help... all of my other rather serious symptoms were HYPER... including my eyes and tremors that last time. Boy... those were the good old days.. had to quit my job of seven years on that one. The saga continues... So Graves' is finally diagnosed... PTU... periods came back... later went through menopause. Go figure. I not only got to 'become a woman' twice... I went through menopause twice ! Sure seemed like menopause the first time around ya know. :-) And Aldyth, I am not alone here. All the boards and lists on Graves' have gals with periods being whacky. It IS all tied together. So WHY are you hangin' out at the lower end of FT3 ? Most feel better at the mid or higher end . Do you feel good there ? OK... done with my rambling... off to my day job. Just had to say " Hi " to you and let you know the odds are that it is tied in with your thyroid levels. Hope that is all it turns out to be for you. -Pam L-
