Guest guest
, Hi. Interesting! No, we are not at all positive that he has RSS: The geneticist said she saw many physical attributes of RSS in Jack (except the fact he didn't have low birth weight or body asymmetry) but wanted a ped. endo to give us a second opinion. It was a very ambiguous ruling (actually, not a " ruling " at all!), so we're anxiously awaiting her written diagnosis! My husband and I both left her office thinking, " Huh?? Does that mean he has RSS or not? " His height has been 5-10th percentile but has shot up to 20th in the past year with weight gain (due to Periactin). I'm 5'5 " and my husband is 5'11 " . Yes, it is very possible that FTT/GI issues are the cause; our pediatrician believes that this is most likely the case, but she wants us to be sure we have exhausted all fronts (she is very supportive and open to exploring all avenues!). In fact, I think she was surprised that the geneticist didn't rule out RSS completely! I don't think we would have even explored RSS if a woman at our GI's office hadn't asked us if our son had it (her child has RSS, and she was struck by Jack's high-pitched voice and features that were similar to her daughter's). I will be VERY interested to get Dr. H's read on our son. Once again, thanks for your insight!!! marcy > > As I wait for our geneticist's write-up to send out to Dr. H's > > office (along with other past tests done on my son so they can > > review his potential RSS status), I've been thinking a lot about > > where my son has been on the growth charts: He's always been 3rd > > percentile for weight (and is now " touching " the 5th percentile > > line!), and he's currently 20th percentile for height.
