Guest guest
Hi , I appreciate your kind words. I think next to the summer before I was diagnosed (my father died while we were in the process of moving homes, and I was in my senior term at culinary school--all that at once and I wasn't sleeping, my heart was racing, etc.) this is the most stress I've ever been in. Trying to keep my balance has been helped tremendously by my husband and his herbs. Being self-aware, and in control of what's happening with my thyroid has helped too. My stress has manifested in getting sick, the foot thing, overwhelming tiredness--but I'm getting through it. Hopefully by 9/1 I will have a handle on all the chaotic things that are driving me crazy, many of them work-related, and fueled by the fact that I'm taking a huge leap, building a new business from the ground up and investing more money in it than I ever imagined I would spend on anything. I am close to signing a lease on raw space and starting to build my dream kitchen/classroom, and as the commercial kitchen designer says, short of a bio lab, a commercial kitchen is the most complicated and regulated thing to build. Plus dealing with a landlord--I've been in lease negotiations for nearly 3 months on the space--and the lawyers and the architect and contractor...and my husband, who's pretty freaked out by all of it and would quite honestly rather I retired. Which I'd hate. So here I am poised to take a giant leap into the unknown, and my foot goes nuts. Symbolic, eh? The good news is that I haven't had a single twinge of pain in 24 hours. The last acupuncture treatment did it. That and maintaining at least the rudiments of a sense of humor through the worst. Do go back on the herbs if you can, it's hard to assess their efficacy because they have a more subtle and gentle effect, but I firmly believe that my thyroid and my life would be worse without them.
