Guest guest
Hi AJ, I looked at Google long enough to see this mentioned as a chelating agent of mercury. I'm afraid I don't know anything more about it. I do know people believe that heavy metals can contribute to problems like Graves'. It also seems, however, that you have to be careful when getting them out of the body so you don't re-expose yourself to them in the process. Perhaps someone at ai_alt_med might have some information about this technique. I agree you need to question everything. I might have been slower to develop Graves' if I hadn't taken my ND's suggestion to take kelp for low body temperature. Best wishes, I have been given a jug to collect my urine for 6 hours and 3 DMPS pills (DiMercapto Propane Sulfonic Acid) to take by mouth at the beginning of the 6 hours. I believe this test is to see if " heavy metals " are in my body. The DMPS is to act as a kelating agent binding heavy metals and causing them to exit my body. (Is that correct?) I am researching what is DMPS?...How is it made?....Who regulates it?...What effects will it have on organs and body tissues?...How will it effect my Graves' disease?...Is heavy metals common for Graves' disease patients?...Is this the only way to test for heavy metals? I have learned that it is " compounded " by a local pharmacy. The " State Board of Pharmacists " oversees compounds. Each doctor decides his own formula for DMPS. The pharmacist who produces this DMPS has loaned the doc his book about it...so he could not tell me the exact formula. He suggested I check on the net for more information about DMPS..here is my first stop. It has been suggested to me that I should " trust " this doc. I believe what I have learned in the past 4 months with Graves' disease is to be educated about anything any doc is putting inside me. I don't believe the issue is RAI or ATD or DMPS. As a patient, I expect to know the affect and possible side effects of any medical treatment or test. Ever hopeful for understanding, Al
Guest guest
Thank you for your response, , I am so glad for any information or experience others have had. I was hoping Elaine would also add her wisdom to my query. I've done a little research about DMPS and the doc who prescribed the DMPS urine test. I also am scheduled for a bio meridian energy test. What is that? In order to have my insurance cover it, they had to find some way to prove arthritis. I've been told by a rheumatologist I don't have arthritis. The doc insisted with my age..55..everyone had some somewhere. So he looked to prove it. This is the first doc to look at my thyroid tests as the " group " would wish... but he " sells " a lot of stuff thru his office. And I feel just as rushed and uneducated as I was when scheduled for RAI before diagnosed with Graves' Disease. Ever hopeful, AJ > > Hi AJ, > > I looked at Google long enough to see this mentioned as a chelating agent of mercury. I'm afraid I don't know anything more about it.
