I thought the name " metronidazole " sounded familiar, so I looked it

up in my nurse's drug guide. It's the generic name for Flagyl! So,

unfortunately, we've been down that route already with no success.

Thanks anyway-

Thanks for the info. I have a few questions for you:

What kind of doctor prescribed the tannins/rhubarb extract? Was it a

GI doc? I have a feeling if I suggest it to mine, he'd laugh out

loud! Was it specifically to help the diarrhea, or was it for

something else?

Were his stools still a mess when you started the mercury detox?

They made a big deal at the DAN conference about how a kid's GI tract

needs to be cleaned up before chelation can be started, but they also

talked about how improved GI functioning was one of the benefits.

We've been waiting to call Dr. Amy until we get rid of the diarrhea,

but maybe we don't need to?

Is he still testing positive for yeast? How did you get a long-term

nystatin prescription?

Finally, a practical question- Since it sounds like you avoid juice,

what does your son drink? Brett drinks 2 glasses a day of calcium

OJ, and otherwise gets watered down white grape juice or lemonade.

He refuses any and all milk substitutes. I worry about the sugar in

the juice, but he rarely drinks water and I don't know how else I

could get him all of his supplements.

We have appointments scheduled with Dorfman in July and are on

Dr. Bradstreet's intake list, but I really would like to get this

diarrhea thing solved before then!

Thanks again for your help-

Sue

My sons get very acidic BMs from certain fruits like bananas. My younger

son also gets a very raw, red bottom unless I give him Enzymeaid - I try

to give both my boys this twice a day. The acidity goes away for the

most part and my little guy's BMs firm up very well. With out the

enzymaid, they go back to being pretty loose and sour smelling. That's

what's helped with my boys. I also use colostrum, but have recently run

out and they seem fine without it. I tried zinc once, but it was so

nasty tasting that I couldn't get it into them. I also like to give them

ProBioGold twice a day to help with digestive issues. My older son is

still taking Nystantin, but his behavior is worse on the stuff than off

it so I don't know what I'm going to do. The enzymes from Kirkman's have

helped the most. I also bought HNZyme, but they're not reacting well to

this and I might have to stop for the time being.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for sharing your experience! I placed a Kirkman's order

yesterday that includes the enzymaid and an upgrade from acidophilus

plus to probiogold. I'm hoping these will help. Today his bottom

has gone from being red all over to having a yeast-type rash, so I

guess I'll be asking for another yeast test. Also, he had frequent

SMALL loose stools today, so maybe it's getting out of system-

I can only hope!

Thanks so much-

Sue
