Guest guest
B and Malathi, It is very interesting how things have changed in 16 years. Max was originally seen by Dr. Starkman as an infant and he said he would NEVER use gh for RSS kids. Good for him for researching it and being open to change. Dr. Silverman, as you know, , was not around when Max was little. We just started seeing Dr. H. because there was no one else around here who knew as much about RSS as she did. That being put aside, neither Dr. Starkman nor Dr. Silverman like Dr. H. I had a little heart to heart with our pediatrician who is very open and honest with me. I was remarking on the change in Dr. Starkman over the years and that he remembered Max when he saw him in Chicago. (I had no idea he remembered us after so many years.) She told me that they really do not like Dr. H. and, while they would consult with her if necessary, they feel comfortable in treating our kids. Does that mean we should not go to Dr. H.? No. I think that if you can see her and at least get a consult, you should do it. She is one of the world's experts on RSS and could only shed light on the treatment. But if these doctors are willing to follow the protocol, then it's much easier to go to MMH than to NYC. Just remember that the Drs. S. are not as experienced and may not know enough about complications that could arise (ie early puberty, dysmotility, etc.). Jodi Z.
