As I'm working today, I don't have time to thoroughly read all these

articles. But I read through some of the first one, comparing treatment

protocols on children with a special emphasis on radioiodine therapy, and oh

boy does it disturb me! To start with, it states in the introduction that:

" Radioiodine therapy achieves high rates of remission (8, 10, 11, 12, 13,

14, 15, 16), yet the long term safety of iodine-131 in children and

adolescents has been evaluated in fewer than 1000 individuals (6, 15, 17,

18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23). Concerns also linger about the oncogenic potential

of radioiodine and the potential risks of genetic damage to any offspring

after iodine-131 treatment (24, 25, 26, 27, 28). "

It then cites various studies that seem to indicate that higher doses of

radiation in children result in LESS incidences of thyroid cancer, and

various other " study results " are given. All these results seem to point to

RAI as the treatment of choice for children, even those as young as 1 year

old.

I'm going to put this next bit in all caps, cause it's the most important to

me:

NOT ONCE IN THIS WHOLE STUDY WAS QUAILTY OF LIFE ADDRESSED!!!!

I'm disgusted! Such self-serving science as this is causative of cruel and

life-long unnecessary treatments being given to children too young to defend

themselves.
