Guest guest
Hi Lee, Welcome to the group. I'm guessing by now that you have seen the multitude of questions that are asked here on this list serve. I am so glad that an adult male has joined our group since I have a son, Colby, with a mild case of RSS. His stats are in my signature below. He had a pretty trying school year last year due to being picked on because of his size. Do you have any words of wisdom I can share with him? I was surprised last year that although he was constantly being teased (some of it even physical) that he did his share of teasing too. Is this normal? Colby's dad abandoned him in March of 1996 so the male influence at home is very weak. Sometimes I don't know how to balance being over-protective with letting him become a man. My first instinct is to " save " his day, but I think he is at the age that he needs to learn to " fight his own battles " , be they physical or verbal. What are your thoughts? Did you get teased a lot and if so, what did you find to be your best defense? I was wondering too if you had any growth hormone treatment as a kid. I had a hard time finding a doctor to prescribe it prior to FDA approval, and now Colby refuses to take it. He says " I have -Silvers Syndrome, so what! I'm not getting a shot everyday. I will deal with it. " So tell me, in your experience, is he going to regret that I didn't force the issue to possibly make him taller? We live in a society that relishes the perfect body, face, etc. and the selection pool is slimming as others use GHT to overcome their short stature (I'm thinking about dating now). Do you find that to be an issue? I would also like to know if you can remember any of your stats at various stages in your life. Anything here would help...and yes I am going to compare it to my son. At a minimum I hope you can tell me when you stopped growing taller (Colby's dad didn't until after high school) and if you know your parents' heights (I am 5'7 " and Colby's dad is 5'8 " .....not much room for play here). I hope I'm not sounding too nosy and feel free to tell me if I am. It's just so nice to finally have an adult male to discuss things with. You can email me privately at b-comrie1@..., but I bet there are others with sons who are asking the same things in the back of their minds. Thanks in advance and I look forward to your responses (sorry for the length). Regards, (mom to Colby: 13 years old, RSS, 57.5 " , and 73 pounds) New Member Hello, my name is Lee.I have just joined this group. I am a 20 year old male from Liverpool England.
