Guest guest
Colin had his orthopedist appt. today to check his assymetry and we mentioned that he's been complaining of leg pains. The dr. said it is totally normal for 3-5 year olds to have dull aching leg pains or cramps. It is especially common with active boys and it has nothing to do with the assymetry. Just thought I'd share what we learned. His assymetry is currently around 1 cm (last summer it was around 1.5), but the doctor doesn't measure it precisely, he just eyeballs it. So for now we don't have to treat it and he just wants to see Colin at age 5. See you all soon! Colin (RSS, g-tube) & Hayden - 3.5 Grant - 6 mo. Guest guest
Our son, Grant, has asymmetry (1.5 cm) and complained often of knee pain, almost always on the short side. We saw an orthopedist and he said there was nothing wrong and that the leg length discrepancy could not be contributing to the problem. His suggestion was to give him Tylenol. Our therapist suggested a shoe lift and we agreed, though hesitantly (remember we saw a " specialist " ), it has reduced the incidence of knee complaints to almost zero and it was immediately effective. I had severe growing pains when I was a child so I know how intense the pain can be. Grant's pain however was consistent in location and increased on days with greater activity. Another doctor fired. and Kim, Grant (RSS, 3.5yo, gtube) > Colin had his orthopedist appt. today to check his assymetry and we > mentioned that he's been complaining of leg pains.
