Greetings all:

For those who've recently joined this group, I want to assure you that good

manners and a sense of strong community have indeed seen this group through four

solid years with barely a blip.

During four years, we've had only about three or four major spats. New people

can rest assurred that this is a caring group of people. We have been quite

focused on Graves disease and the specifics of negotiating that illness. I

think remaining fixed on that topic is helpful.

No more profanity in messages, please.

If anyone receives problematic private messages from ANY member of this group,

please contact me at petri017@...

People writing threatening, demeaning or profane private messages to fellow

group members will be immediately banned from the group.

I can't imagine we'll have any more problems. Let's return to the task of

transforming our own medical care -- and maybe even the way doctors see and

treat us :)

Best,

B

ps: send out a few good vibes/some energy/prayer to our list founder and 'mom,'

Jean, who lost her father last week

and i am no different. i struggle with understanding graves' in my life

(diagnosed december 2002) which derailed relationships and a job/career

track. i take full responsibility for my disease and i make choices each

day for my health and for my fight to remission in the face of a medical

community that doesn't give a sh*t. i am pissed off most the time at how

others didn't have the choices i had, and stand up the way i did and let

doctors' stupid choices run things for them. bad sentence structure, but i

have TED and my eyes can't take any more of pressure for the day.

it's sad the way some people took my style and ran with it to make me

(whomever i am) look bad when all i was doing was my own thing; it got ugly

when other's didn't take the time to know what i was about and posted

inflammatory remarks, and man o man, i responded in kind.

and here's another one coming through to doubt me. ok, i surrender!
