Guest guest
, I JUST went through this!! I have been able to do anything that needed, and although my stomach kind of flipped the first time that I had to replace/reinsert his button, I did it. Now I'm an old pro, and it doesn't bother me at all! Over the last two years, a lot of procedures have made me uncomfortable, but the thought of giving his shots has been the worst! Then, at the convention, Dr H told us that she didn't want us to use the " pen device " for 's shots, that she wanted us to use a syringe, it really sent me over the edge. Ask anyone who was there!! First of all, goes absolutely nuts when he sees a syringe, and secondly, I just hate the thought of seeing the needle when I stick it into him. Thanks to Jodi Z, and her son, Max, I gave my first shot Thursday, at the convention. And knowing that we wouldn't have the Inject-ease right away, she made me give it with just the syringe. It wasn't nearly as hard, or terrifying, as I had imagined in my mind. My heartfelt thanks go out to Jodi and Max, for helping me find out the I CAN do it. Then, Friday night, I gave HIS first shot. For this one, I have to thank Carmen!! She had extra syringes, and her Inject-ease on hand, and allowed us to use them. I now know how to load, and use the Inject-ease, (it's much easier on , because he can't see the syringe!) when we get our own. It all worked out VERY WELL, and many heartfelt thanks go out to the very special people that took their time to help us out!! Last night, I had to give his first shot from me since we've been home, and although he fussed a little when he saw the syringe (hubby didn't have his head turned the other direction!) it was over before he knew it, and all went well. Believe me, if I can do it, as scared as I was, anyone can do it!! And I totally agree with Debby, we mothers/g-mothers ALWAYS rise to the occasion when it comes to our kids!! Hope this helps! Would you hesitate if you knew that the condition was life-threatening?? is already having problems with his BS, possible premature adrenarche, and he suffers from very low muscle tone. GHT is the only way we can remedy these problems for him, so do we really have a choice??
Guest guest
Hey Jen, If I can make this better for anyone, then I can repay the wonderful people that helped me. I usually don't panic about things, and I have no idea why this hit me so hard, but it did. I usually just grit my teeth, and do what ever I have to do!! This one made me cry (very unlike me!!) And it was kind of heart rending when saw the needle last night (thanks to hubby!!) and started to fuss, so I just did what I had to do, as quickly as I could. it all ended up fine. He fussed more before I ever stuck him, then he did afterwards! LOL I remember sitting on those bar stool-like chairs in the PICU with when he had RSV. He metabolizes sedatives very quickly, and it seemed to comfort him if you were just close by, and would rub his arm or leg when he started to stir. Glad I could be of some help!
