Guest guest
Hello, It was approximately six weeks on June 5 that I have been on Block and Replace for Grave's. I am taking 12.5mg MMI and 120mg of Armour. Recently, I have been experiencing more severe episodes of rapid pulse and pounding heart. I have had those all along, but not as severe as the last three days. Occasionally, in the last few months, I have had to take 20mg of Inderal to reduce the pounding heart. In the last three days, I have taken 50 to 60mg. My resting pulse, right now, is jumping around between 91 and 97. I took 50mg of Inderal about 10 minutes ago. (I don't know when to expect the Inderal to kick in). I got the impression that when the hyperthyroidism is under control, beta blockers are no longer needed. Why would the palpitations continue on and on? I know that some Grave's patients adjust their own medication by how they feel. When one is experimenting with B & R, though, what would be the best thing to do? Is there anyone who is currently on B & R who has anything to share about it? My doctor's appointment is June 16. I am hoping to get some information before the appointment because my GP agreed to help me monitor the medications and prescribe them, but I have been the one who has been doing the research on the whole thing. Thank you. Fifty-four years old, diagnosed 8-20-02. Tried a natural remedy for three months. Started Methimazole on December 7 due to very high FT3 and FT4. Started B & R on April 11 when my FT4 was 0.55 (R:0.87-1.57) and FT3 was 240 (R:230-420). The last month and a half, I have battled fatigue and weight gain. Three weeks of that I have been on Atkins and have discovered that I have a very high metabolic resistance to using my stored fat as fuel!
