Guest guest
Angelia, A Farrell Valve is used for venting the stomach while the child is being j-tube fed. It looks like a long tube that attaches to the g- button on one end and has a plastic bag on the other. The bag is hung up above the stomach, like on an IV pole, and residuals can drain into the tubing. Also, gas can escape into it and it is released from the bag via a special valve that it has on it. When there is residual, it can go all the way up into the bag, but it will drain back into the stomach when the stomach is ready or empty enough to accept it. If you have more questions, let me know!
