I believe that at the Institutes, the parents take courses and then design their

own programs. At NACD, they design the programs for you and help you with

structure, behavioural issues, etc. If you need home school programs, they help

you with that as well. Basicly NACD holds your hand through the processes and

the Institutes lets you go on your own.

I needed the structure of NACD and that is what determined my decision of NACD

over the Institutes. Both operate under the same principles so the programs, in

the end, are neurological and target the senses and development.

[sPAM][ ] Janice-NACD or Inst. for Ach of Human

Potential-for home program?

Janice and all, We have a home program run through the district, but

are looking for a better program tailored to our child's needs. As I

stated before, we found out when she was 5 after a 2nd MRI that she has

tiny cysts caused from lack of oxygen at birth (apcar scores were

great). She has much in common with an autistic child in that she is a

sensory seeker, severe apraxia (few rarely said words that pop up when

you least expect it), sensitivity to sudden sound, etc.

I am interested in NACD but also see that there is an Institute for

Human Potential. What is the difference between the two?

I am in NJ. I assume we have to go to them for the evaluation and home

evals are not available. My daughter doesn't perform as well in

offices, that is why I ask.

Thanks, Carolyn aigjr@...

Carolyn,

NACD has ofices in West Chester Pa so it is fairly close. You almost

don't want her to perform her best so they know what targetrs need

the most attention. Go for it!
