Guest guest
I am new to the list and do not yet have a diagnosis of GD. I was diagnosed as mildly hypothyroid three years ago. At the time I was also experiencing significant gynecological problems and mild hypertension. I had a total hysterectomy to resolve the gynecological problems and the hypertension resolved after treatment for my thyroid disorder. I took a minimal dose of Levoxyl initially but, though my TSH, T4 and T3 stabilized at normal levels on the Levoxyl, I continued to gain weight, lose hair, cope with hives, severe muscle cramps and sleep problems. I was placed on 60 mg. of armour thyroid and did much better. Until now. I have recent unilateral proptosis with some pain and swelling around the eye. And I feel very unwell. I am also losing hair once again. Recently I have had a poor appetite. My blood pressure remains normal and I do not feel jumpy or restless. Do not have weight loss. My basal temperature remains low as usual at 97.3 (tops). Lab tests last week (Canadian lab) reveal TSH at .11 (normal >.20?), FT3 4.7, FT4 11.2 and Antibody Peroxidase levels at 65.9 (normal <60.0?). I am seeing an endo tomorrow but would appreciate advice on what to ask for. I have a long-standing history of Behcet's Disease (autoimmune vasculitis) which resulted in a toxic mega colon and a total colectomy 20 years ago. I have meditated regularly for many years to manage stress and take several health supplements. I usually eat a high protein/restricted carb diet. It's wonderful to have this support. Bless you whoever started this and Jean for being the list 'mom'. Appreciating all of you, Sheila " The groundwork of all happiness is health.
