I got some info from my wife who spoke to our kids' pediatrician recently to express our concerns about giving vaccines containing mercury. The doctor told my wife that their office doesn't use thimerasol containing vaccines -which isn't to say our son didn't receive them in the past. First, this seems to imply that non-mercury containing vaccines are readily available to doctor's offices. Second and more interesting to me is that the doctor said a pediatrician's organization has requested of the vaccine suppliers that they not provide any drugs containing mercury. I don't know any of the all important details but want to post this and would like to know if anyone else has ever heard anything like this. I might call the doctor back and ask for more details. Marty, a law was passed a few years ago that required mercury to be taken out of the mmr shot and that they be given seperately. In most cases you may still need to ask for these since the doctor's offices can still use those containing mercury until they are gone. Which could be years depending on many boxes a doctor's office has! If an mmr is given seperatly it's free of mercury . However, there are many shots that still contain mercury. I thought the dpt did so they are now giving the dtap. It's nice to find some doctors who know what more and are willing to not give mercury. > > I got some info from my wife who spoke to our kids' pediatrician recently > to express our concerns about giving vaccines containing mercury.
