med reduction/lab results-help--Elaine

Hi Pam,

I put Elaine's name in the subject line for more expert advice, but I would

think a TSI antibody test (under 2% results) would be a better way to check for

remission (although my endo firmly believes it's useless). Does Amy's doctor

then plan to start tapering down the Levoxyl after she's off the Tap? I guess

the question would be where she " ends up " at that point, but it seems like a

less informed way to proceed than doing the TSI test.

Best wishes

B.

Subject: Re: med reduction/lab results-help

Amy's doctor has cut her Tapazole in half, from 10 mg. to 5 per day. He

wanted labs done in three weeks and here are the results. If she is " normal " ,

he

wants to cut out Tapazole altogether, then retest in another three weeks. She

is still on Levoxyl. Some of the tests are new to me and I need some help

with the numbers. Thanks!

T-uptake by immulite 30.3 range - 24 - 35

Total T4 by immulite 9.23 range - 4.5 - 12.5

T7 2.8 range 1.4 - 4.6

TSH by immulite 1.61 range - 0.4 - 4.0

FREE T4 by im 1.48 range - 0.8 - 1.9

Total T3 by im 109 range - 82 - 179

FREE T3 by im 1.97 range - 2.1 - 4.7

Her FREE T3 by immulite is below the normal range. Is she in remission,

hypo, hyper?

Thanks,

Amy's Pam
