Guest guest
Hi Ann Marie, If I had your labs I would be feeling pretty hypO. I think cutting down to 50 mg is a good idea and still will fight the antibodies, but I'm sure other experts will chime in on that if I'm wrong. Hope the cut brings some relief to your symptoms - you do have a wild mix of them. Pam B.
Guest guest
Hi Ann Marie, You want your TSI to be lower when you wean off ATDs. Ideally, it should be < 2, but if you get it below 30, you should be safe. The ATDs help suppress TSI production so ideally you wouldn't be producing them at all when you stopped ATDs. Otherwise, TSI can creep back up and hyperT return. Your labs show that you're moving into hypoT and that can cause a goiter to form or enlarge if you already have one. The recommended maintenance dose for PTU is 100-150 mg daily so your new dose will be more appropriate. Many of the symptoms of hypo and hyper overlap, and I wouldn't be surprised if some of your symptoms abated with your reduced PTU dose. Take care, Elaine
