Guest guest
Re: PTU for TPO .. . . I am eager to hear about the results of your antibody tests!! Do you know if you get the TBII whether that means that you get results of both TSI and the blocking antibodies, or do you need to get TSI separately (in addition)? Hi , I have an old post from Elaine stating that " stimulating and blocking TSH receptor antibodies are . . . both measured together in a TBII test, " which is useful for people with the eye problems. I guess the test would have a different range from the TSI alone, which for " normals " is supposed to be under 130% activity. I think it would still be useful to have the two types of antibodies checked separately. On another point, we generally use 2% as the goal for the TSI test, but I think I recall Elaine once posting that anything under 30% might be reasonable. My endo based my " mini block and replace " protocol on her belief that less than 100 mg PTU is ineffective. Personally I vacillate between the strict medical view concerning a drug's characteristics and the first-hand experience of people on the board concerning thrice daily dosing, maintaining on a low dose of PTU, etc.--generally the board seems to be right.
