Guest guest
Hi Barb, I have no idea why Yahoo kept messing up that link, so I am glad you managed to deceiver it. Yes... that is a perfect medical abstract that can not be boo wooed by the doctor. It may turn out you will need to find the right words in the conversation... something along the lines of... ????... " Let me try reducing the meds a little bit, get labs in 4 weeks, and WE can compare the new numbers and how I am feeling ? As long as I stay within the normal range there would be no harm in trying this ? " At least that is how I remember working through it ? I wish I had found others in these circumstances back then. I spent years over medicated. Functional but miserable. I was terrified of doing anything except exactly as my doctor ordered, site I do not have medical insurance and if I had messed up the RAI was the only choice I would have, since the preferable surgery in that event, would have not been affordable to me. Silly fear I know NOW. Since if I HAD lowered too much, I could have added another pill back and been fine. But the hypo brain and being all alone in the mess had me thinking of everything as possible terror and tragedy. For ME, terrible anxiety and panic IS part of hypo. Among tooooo much other stuff. ;-o But... just like Goldie Locks and those little beds, there IS one that is " Just Right " . I found my own magic place inside of that 'normal' range, and have been healthy and happy ever since. I saved that particular link for the possibility of using it ... just in case I ever had to break in a new doctor. :-) Good luck on Tuesday. My only other tip, is that doctors only believe the very short list of hypo / hyper symptoms, so stick to the basics and never mention weight... I swear, they think weight is the only thing women worry their pretty little heads about. If you have any luck... it will be some one that believes Quality of Life should be the reason for treating you. Oh... they seem to think anyone with Graves' is crazy forever.... wonder why they never see NORMAL Graves' patients that are not crazy? Grrrrrrr ! So stay calm and treat the appointment as a business proposition. Least... that is when I have the most success getting what I want , even if they are not real sure the idea could have merit -Pam L -. 3 1/2 years Graves', TED, and PTU. Remission due to SLOW reduction of PTU (despite an incompetent endo ! ), improved lifestyle, excellent nutrition, herbs, and looking at the big picture. Pills alone only help the symptoms. We must help our bodies to heal.
