Guest guest
I have posted here a few times. My story is I was diagnosed with Grave's in 95 at age 29. I had RAI and it has been a battle ever since. They said from my symptoms that I had probably had grave's for a while. After the RAI I was on Synthroid only for 5 years until the end of 99 and I either felt too hyper or too hypo, I felt horrible all the time. Toward the end of 99 I started on Armor once a day and finally was regulated according too TSH test. Te past 3 years I started feeling more and more hypo. I tried upping my Armour dose but once I reach 120, this is the most I can take every day and not feel hyper but I also feel pretty hypo on this dose also. I started splittin my dose into twice a day which helped but still hypo. I then started staggering my dose from 135 one day to 120 the next and my TSH test showed normal (less than .35 hyper I came in at .48) but I still did not feel right. My doc has given me complete freedom on adjusting my dose as I have been doing this for 8 years and I always keep good records everday of my doses and how I feel and I never adjustup or down more than 15 mcg of Armour at a time. I can usually tell my hypo from hyper symptoms. I have become so in tune with my dose and how I feel I can tell whether my test results will show hyper or hypo before I am tested and when I get tested after 4 weeks I have always been right. I know you are not suppose to be able to tell how a dosage change will effect you for 4 weeks but I can tell within four days. Everyone is different. When I was on Synthroid only I did make one mistake and took one extra pill by accident so my doc at the time said to stop my Syntroid for 3 days then start back. The thrid nigth I had uncontrollable shaking and ended up at the ER and they pumped alot of benadryl into me and it turned out that what had happened was that in just 3 days I did not have hardly any thyroid left in me to do the job. After 8 years I have finally found out on my own about splitting my Amrour dose and as I said it did help. After reading up on all the info. I could.I got my doc to add Synthroid 3 days ago(25mcg) and I started on half of that (adding 12 mcg synthroid to 120 Armour) It will probably end up needing at least the full 25mcg Is it ok to take half of the synthroid in the am and the other half in the pm like I do my Armour portion of my replacement?
