Have either of you looked into the idea of this being a Neuroma? Some of the

symptoms seem to fit.

Hi ,

I thought I'd check in with a " progress report " on this. My pain has gotten

progressively worse over the last weeks, despite acupuncture treatments (3)

which moved it around so it doesn't go to the toe anymore but just stays on

top of the foot, so I started researching on line. I suspected that it

could be likened to the pain in Shingles, and I'm right. The descriptions

I've found for that are exactly what I suffer from except mine is localized

to the top of my right foot. I have no idea if I have had Shingles, but I

did just get over an extremely bad cold, the first I've had in years.

Things that are " cooling " seem to provide temporary relief--but I've been

getting more tired and stressed about it since I don't sleep all that well

with this pain shooting me in the foot ever few seconds. Traumheel, a

Homeopathic cream seems to help a bit, and I just got some cucumber cream

(cool as a cucumber!) that I want to try, too. I found online a little

one-person study about using peppermint oil as a palliative for the pain.

The woman applied it every six hours (it alleviated the pain for that long).

I got some peppermint leaves from my garden and ground them up in the mortar

and pestle, and applied to my foot this AM and they did help. So I went and

got peppermint oil, and I haven't had a single " bolt " of pain since.

The posting of this little study did mention that the oil doesn't cure the

condition, and it also mentions that after a long while (6 weeks I think)

the foot got a bit red and irritated, so they started cutting it with some

almond oil.

Anyway, if you find anything that helps, let me know, ok? And I'll keep you

in tune with my explorations too.
