Guest guest
Thank you Fay, & Caroline for putting my mind at ease with my Graves diagnosis. I feel so naive as I really wondered whether it was fatal or not! I have now made it to Saturday...yippee. My doctor did go through my results, but for the life of me I can't remember what they were, but will definitely get them from now on. I am taking Carbimazole, 15mg twice a day. The doctor said it would take approx 18 mths- 2 years, but there was no mention of any other sort of treatments before this time. She also wanted me to take oestrogen, for my menopausal symptoms (I am 44) but I didn't want to as my bone density test was fine. We agreed to look again in one year. Wow, a doctor who listened to what I wanted....I am feeling pretty happy about that. How many times have you all discovered other symptoms you didn't realise were related to Graves? I had to go to a dinner function with hubby last night and was feeling quite tired, went to the loo and couldn't get up from the seat....felt as though my large leg muscles had turned to jelly. Now I think back, this has often happened over the past couple of years, usually when I have been out somewhere and tired. Just thought I was unfit and had to exercise more! I had also noticed a few months ago that my 2 small fingernails had gradually started to lift off my fingers....as if the white part at the end of your fingers has suddenly got larger....didn't connect that one either. Thanks for listening, Alison, the Aussie one
