Hi ,

Two things come to my mind concerning vitains and Graves'. One is to make sure

your multivitamin has no iodine. The second is to watch for bone loss, which

would mean taking a calcium magnesium supplement. My gynecologist determined

this for me with a bone scan. I know they can also test your blood calcium

levels.

On Elaine's Suite101 site there's an interesting recent article about the

emotional aspects of Graves' that suggests that anxiety and depression often

lift once antibody activity subsides. If a person is euthyroid and doesn't have

eye problems, I suppose this does not means running a TSI test but not

necessarily continuing with ATDs. Probably it's a case instead for continuing

with stress reduction techniques and other means to heal the immune system. (My

young, somewhat ignorant endo told me that Graves' is triggered by stress. I

know there's more to it than that, but it certainly made it easier for me to get

my insurance to authorize counseling, which has been very helpful.)

Recently Elaine posted that the SSRI antidepressants, which I believe are those

that slow reuptake of serotin, make a person more hypothyroid. My guess is that

they can still be taken if needed so long as you watch your bloodwork.

I hope you're feeling better since your last posts. Being in college is always

challenging though also rewarding in so many ways.

Best wishes,
