Guest guest
Hi , My Physician's Desk Reference for Herbal Medicine says milk thistle is safe and effective in healing and protecting the liver. It does describe some drug interactions that are over my head (one involving psychotropic drugs) but doesn't seem to mention a problem with thyroid meds. I've been taking milk thistle over the past fifteen years following a case of hepatitis B and feel it's been instrumental in helping me heal thoroughly; I've been taking it more consistently (daily dosage on the bottle) since starting antithyroid meds in the hope it will protect my liver against the PTU. I think it's a helpful herb, especially since doctors used to say the liver couldn't heal. Best wishes, B.
