Hi,

People with Graves' disease often still have feelings of rage whenever their

levels are off, including when they're hypothyroid. This can also be related

to the many nutrient deficiencies related to thyroid dysfunction, particularly

deficiencies of B vitamins, calcium and magnesium, which contribute to

irritability. These nutrients are particularly important for proper nervous

system

function. Best, Elaine

Hi Luci,

In my experience it's more hyper. Hypo you just don't have the energy to

lift your head above the fog and get mad.

Sorry you are feeling so bad, and in such a state that you can't express

your needs clearly to others. Would it be possible to let your husband know

how you feel, and that you need his help and support right now? I thought

there was a letter to the family on the Graves Support home page in the

files, but it doesn't seem to be there...maybe I imagined it, I never do

trust my memory. Pam B. would know. and I know Elaine's written about rage

on her website, somewhere.

Hey Luci,

Did you ever get your dose lowered ?

Last I remember your numbers were heading pretty hypo and you never

mentioned a lower dose. That could well be the problem.

When I was hypo I had symptoms that confused me too. I got really pissy.

After all... no one else had to get through the day and do it with a body

that did not work or think correctly. And I made it through each day, got

all my stuff done all the while handicapped so to speak. And all I got from

others were MORE demands. Pissy was the result.

Common internal thought was " What the hell is YOUR problem ! "

Hypo made me work harder than others with the same end result and no thanks

at the end. So not fair. At least that is how I saw it at the time.

My body was not as strong as normal, I had trouble with hot , sweaty moments

my heart would go nuts, and my brain just worked to slow. I could not sleep

right at all. Hard to stay asleep even if I had dropped off in exhaustion.

That makes the whole next day crappy. Then there is the next day, and the

next.

Maybe we need two terms. Hyper Rage and Hypo Pissy. Not sure of the right

word here, but I bet I am not alone in sympathizing with you.

Not everyone just gets cold and goes to sleep when hypo. THAT sounds GOOD to

me.

You might want to check my last post to Barb, if you had trouble with your

doctor telling you the numbers last time were not hypo. If I am remembering

correctly, that was the whole problem when you first joined us.

I sure hope it is STILL not the case. No reason to not feel good on ATDs

after the first few months of getting adjusted.

3 1/2 years Graves', TED, and PTU. Remission due to SLOW reduction of PTU

(despite an incompetent endo ! ), improved lifestyle, excellent nutrition,

herbs, and looking at the big picture.

Pills alone only help the symptoms. We must help our bodies to heal.

Luci:

Have you had labs recently to see where you stand? It definitely

sounds to me like you need relief.

I experienced rage when I was hyper. When hypo, I was weepy and

depressed and bitchy, but it was really different from the hair

pulling hysterical anger of hyper.

In the midst of it, I remember feeling very justified and completely

enraged that nobody got how right I was. I burned a lot of very

important bridges, some that could not be mended.

The most important lesson for me was to be kind to myself. You don't

have a stupid body, you have a body that is trying to do its best in a

difficult situation. You are trying to do your best in a difficult

situation.

Take care,

Hi Luci, Terry is right there is a good letter to the spouses of graves and

it used to live here:

http://www.webpak.net/~deecee/spouseletter.htm

but is either down today or gone completely, I don't know.

There are also these two letters, about halfway down this post - if you can

t get them let me know and I'll copy and paste them for you:
