Guest guest
Just thought I'd send you all an update to 's progress.. We've been GF since 4-2-01 and CF since 4-23-01 (1 month today!). We seem to have levelled off in some areas. Josh's speech hasn't improved since he learned 'more' (verbal and sign) and 'momma'. He's babbling a little more, but no new words, and I haven't heard him say 'dada' or 'ba' (with intent to mean 'ball' or 'bottle', not just babbling) in a long time. He is signing and saying 'more' A LOT, especially in terms of food or drink! LOL! We have made some improvements in terms of social things.. Sometimes if I crouch down and hold my arms open wide, he'll run to me and hug me.. Sometimes when I'm holding him he'll take my face in his hands and kiss me on the lips. He is making a little more eye contact with me, a second or two instead of the split second thing he used to do. When I yell for him, a little over half the time he'll actually COME to me. He's beginning to understand the idea of mischief and right and wrong. He doesn't CARE that what he's doing is wrong, when I put him in time out or yell at him it doesn't phase him in the slightest.. Definitely doesn't stop him from doing it the next time.. But when I catch him doing it, he covers his eyes and runs away, so you know that he knows that he wasn't supposed to be doing what he was doing.. KWIM? He's starting to fight with his sister, which is an interaction, no matter how unpleasant to me it might be. Visual stimming is holding pretty constant, but headbanging has decreased to almost nothing. I haven't seen him flap his hands in a couple weeks, so that's good too. Also, I posted this yesterday but didn't get any replies, so I'll post again here.. Before, Josh gravitated towards the foods that gave him his fix.. brown, dry, and crunchy was his mantra.... After, he was eating everything in sight that I gave him.. Now, he's still eating in mass quantity, but he's limiting again.. He's refusing the GFCF chicken nuggets that he loved at the start, eating Hebrew National hot dogs instead. He's refusing cereals and only wanting scrambled eggs..He's in LOVE with potatoes no matter what form they're in. Is this just normal preferences coming out as he's discovering new foods or is he getting some kind of fix out of these foods and thus starting to limit to those? I'm glad to see him eating so much, and glad to see him putting on a little weight for once, but dont' want him substituting one fix for another. I guess I " m just a little paranoid when I see him enjoying something too much.. LOL.. Anyway, we're sticking with the diet, and praying that we'll see more improvements. Any hints, thoughts, or words of advice would be appreciated. Thanks!
