Dosage reduction advice required

Hi listmates,

I am sooo pleased, I have just had the results from my latest blood test.

This is the history:

Mid September Free T4 76.9 (normal 8.0 - 20.0)

TSH <0.01

October 5th Free T4 59.7

October 29th Free T4 30.2 (yipeee!)

TSH <0.01

When I had the blood test yesterday and looked over my notes I realised that

I have never had my Free T3 tested. I will speak to my doctor about whether

this is necessary but as my doctor and I are " feeling our way around " my GD

and is letting *me* decide how I handle the ATDs, I would like opinions

from the helpful people on the list.

I think I am probably due for a dose reduction. I am currently taking 20mg a

day of Carbimazole (10mg in the morning and 10mg at night) as well as

beta-blockers (sorry I don't know the dosage as the print has worn off the

label). Based on what I have read on this list, I think I should reduce the

dose to 15mg of Carbimazole a day (5mg 3 times a day) then wait another

month to see what happens with my Free T4. Does this dose seem OK? Not too high?

Because I am feeling so extremely well and full of life, I plan to try and

keep my Free T4 levels around the 15-20 mark (my path lab says 8.0 - 20.0 is

the norm) and stay there (optimistic eh? *G*).

Any advice would be most welcome.

(in an extremely good mood since I heard the results)

Only when the last tree has died and the last river has been poisoned and

the last fish has been caught will we realise that we cannot eat money.
