Guest guest
My mother has just been told she has a nodule on her thyroid gland. The doctor told her that it wasn't hyperthyroidism and that it wasn't linked to my Grave's disease. (My mother is going through menopause at the moment.) The doctor has told her that she has to have an ultrasound and a nuclearscan of her thyroid. I don't see why she has to have the radioactive iodine uptake test if he has already said it isn't hyperthyroidism. I didn't think that nuclearscans were that effective in studying nodules and that they were used mainly for Grave's and thyroid toxicosis. Am I right about this? I don't want my mother to have any form of RAI especially when I am so against it. I don't think that it is going to help her in the long run. She already has a problem with a valve in her heart and extremely high blood pressure. Can anyone help me on this? Thanks
