As we are refining the diet, I have recognized what foods cause what

reactions. Thought I would share it with you in case anyone else is looking

for an answer to a particular behavior. With all foods that affect

negatively, he stops saying the few words he knows and seems even to forget

the sign language.

Casein - violent, hitting, aggressive

Fruits, oils, nuts, vinegar - red cheeks, very hyper but not necessarily

violent

gluten - diarrhea, refuses to eat

I have read a lot about kids being picky eaters. Mine was also until I was

able to refine the diet and figure out just what was affecting him. There

were many foods that didn't test for allergies and were on the okay list for

gfcf, but still affected him. Now he eats pretty much anything that he is

allowed to have.

He does eat a lot. I think if we all ate only rice products mostly and

vegetables, we'd eat a lot more too. If there are vegetarians here, you know

that you have to eat quite a bit more to feel full and then you must eat

more often. I feed my son about every two hours.

As a side note. I do feel bad that he can't have the same treats as all the

other kids when we go to the grocery store and he sees all the candies.

Often I will get him a surprise like a two dollar car or something. This way

he feels that shopping and choosing the right foods is a positive

experience. I let him choose the foods from the shelf and bag the vegetables

and put them in the cart. He will point and gesture, he can't talk, if this

or that is okay and I will tell him yes or no. He thinks this is a great

game and has gotten to know which foods are okay and which aren't.
