Guest guest
There's a behavior problem with our son which has been going on a while and seems to be getting worse. I'll try and state the facts as best I can, bear in mind I'm a parent and of course prejudiced, this is just the way I see things and am looking for feedback if anyone's encountered a similar situation. Our son is 4 1/2 and GF/CF for over 6 mo's now. He's doing well by all accounts, and recently two pediatricians who saw him, plus one neighbor who happens to be a psychiatrist and has worked with autistic kids, plus our karate teacher who used to work with autistic kids have all told us they think the diagnosis is wrong, or words to that effect. Personally I don't think the dx was wrong so much as the /finality/ of a dx of autism is an official medical position and apparently that attitude of finality may be what's wrong. Thanks to everyone else following the diet for helping us. Anyways, our son has been in a full day ABA program since the fall. And going this summer and all next school year. Then, according to his recent IEP may go to special ed kindergarten in Sept. '02. He's been having behavior problems at school that just get worse. My wife has noticed the same as I that his behavior at school seems bad when he's just fine at home. The teacher herself suggested to us that maybe he's getting bored. And she's always saying that he's a very bright kid. Soooo, what are we to do? We'd much prefer he stay at the ABA pre-school, although I'm starting to wonder if he could maybe, just maybe attend a regular pre-school next year. He seems to get more mature each day. Tremendous eye contact now, conversational, getting really understandable. I have my son! We're getting to be a whole family again and his two sisters (6 & 10) are really starting to enjoy his company. They play together now. It's so cool. Sorry, I know I'm just talking now. But if my thoughts are making sense to anyone who has feedback, I'd be much obliged. Marty
