Guest guest
I have twins and they are harder to detect until you are farther along,e ven one is hard to find. they are not very big in there. An ultra sound will reveal if there are 2 babies in there though and if they see 2 on the ultrasound then the doc will always try to hear both babies when they listen with the doppler,. Guest guest
Hi, I am having my 9 week visit on next Tuesday, and the Dr. wants to listen to the heartbeat. Does anyone know if I am carrying twins, will that be heard? I didn't know if you could hear multiple heartbeats, or if that can't be determined until a picture u/s is done. Thanks, Stacey~ Open RNY 07/01/02 500/235 EDD 02/24/
Guest guest
Usually, at the very first visit, they will *try* to find a heartbeat. With a regular office doppler (unless it's an extremly fancy and expensive one), 9 weeks gestation is hard to find. If they do hear a HB @ your visit, most often, they won't spend alot of time trying to find a second one or determine if there are 2. Most often, the twins aren't discovered til your US. I had some problems in the beginning so I had vaginal US's at 5, 6 and 8 weeks gestation to start the pg off. No heartbeat seen at week 5, just the gestational sac. No heartbeat seen at week 6, just the sac and fetal pole. At week 8, we saw and heard it @ 174 bpm! What a precious miracle! I think you just talked me into having another one. lol Best wishes! Guest guest
We had heard one heartbeat for several appointments and even had an early ultrasound at 9 weeks and only saw one bb. Thing is that doc was use to finding the heartbeat in a certain place and would go straight to that area to get the count and didn't venture to the other side of my abdomen. Even though he felt I might be measuring around 2 weeks bigger. It wasn't until I was 20 weeks along and going through my first Level II ultrasound that we found out we were expecting twins. After that I have had an ultrasound every week and he now knows to look for both, lol. They'll be here in another week and a half, at the very latest... YEA!!!!
