Guest guest
Jena, I was 14 months postop when I accidentally got pregnant. I think the postop range on this board is vast and I'm sure you'll get many inputs. Guest guest
Hi Jena-Welcome! I had my surgery Feb 23rd and got pregnant in may. So I guess that is 3 months. So far I have dropped almost 100 pounds. My OB says they want me to gain about 30 pounds with the pregnancy but I don't think that will happen. Not this soon out of surgery. Just make sure you take your vitamins. My little bean is due Feb 14th, 2005. Good luck with everything. I've been in the field (obstetrics) for 9 years....knew how I was after surgery, how my diet was, how my health was, and knew very well about pregnancy labor and delivery.... taking all things into consideration...I concieved my youngest child when I was 5 months postop... Guest guest
Jena, My surgeon said we should wait at least 18 months post op to get pregnant. So, I waited 18 months....at the time, they seemed like the longest 18 months of my life!!! Then we got pregnant and those 9 months seemed like 9 years!!! Good Luck! Guest guest
I was 2 years post op before I got pregnant. I went into pregnancy very healthy with iron/nutrient-rich blood. Near my 6th month of pregnancy even taking 2 Flintstones, 1 PN, 2 iron tablets, 2 calcium tabs and 2 vit c tabs plus extra folic acid, I began having symptoms of iron deficiency anemia and metabolic bone diease. Long story shortened..... I'm just NOW recovering (21 months later), so although I think it's best to wait until your weight, eating and excercising habits are well stabilized and well-formed, length of time after WLS didn't play into my overall health. Btw, my baby spent a few hours in NICU, but is happy and healthy now and that's all that's important to me! Sheila

Guest guest
Jena, I got pregnant at 9 months by accident but lost my triplets at 9 weeks but got pregnant again October. I still believe you should wait at least a year but I know that they are telling women to wait almost two years now. Best wishes to you!!
