BABY WEIGHT'S ???

I think it is about 1/2 to 1 pound a week or so at the home stretch. I am

in the same boat you are, though.......at 32 weeks mine measured 5 pounds 14

ounces. My pre WLS babies were 9 pounds 13 ounces 22 1/2 inches long, 7

pounds 11 ounces 20 1/2 inches long, and 8 pounds 11 ounces and 21 1/2 inches

long. With the exception of the middle one, I think I am just a big baby

producer. I never gained a whole lot of weight with each pregnancy, less than

30

pounds. (I'm sitting on 27 pounds this time with 3 weeks to the day before

delivery.) Think of it this way, if you haven't gained much delivering a big

baby means you don't have much to lose.

Good luck and hope your delivery is smooth!!

No, the baby will gain up to half a pound a week, not a pound. you will still

have a nice size baby though.

Had a Sonogram yesterday and the baby's weight is estimated at 5 Ibs

1 oz. I'm currently 34 weeks. When they told me that I was lying

there thinking that I'm going to have a big baby. Is this the case?

I am under the impression that the baby will be gaining at least a

pound a week. Am I right or wrong?

Thanks

Lana,

First of all, sonograms are rarely correct when

estimating a baby's weight and length, however according to

a pg book I have, at 34 weeks the baby weighs almost 5lbs in

a normal pg that has an average 7.5lb baby. According to

the book, the baby will gain .5lb a week from now until 38

weeks and then just under .5lb a week from 38-40 weeks. So,

don't worry! I am sure you are having a perfectly normal

sized baby!! I think the pound a week applies more to the

mom than the baby:) And don't be surprised if you lose a

couple pounds near the end since that is completely normal

when you are about to go into labor!!

I was told the baby can gain 1/2 pound a week by my ob-gyn/perinatologist. Then

the Ultrasound Tech said the baby can grow or stay the same weight.

That was last week and I am now 38 weeks.

I am glad you asked that question cause I was wondering the same

thing. I had an ultrasound on the 7th and the tech said Rori weighed

5lbs4oz. I was in shock, I guess I was expecting her to be around 3

or 4lbs. I was only 9 months post op when I got pregnant. I had

lost 12lbs but have gained that 12lbs plus 1lb back. I guess I

thought since I hadnt gained much weight that she hadnt either. If

she gaines 1/2lb a week and I still have 4 weeks to go, I think I

will be returning quite a few newborn diapers!!! lol

The basically told me the same thing and my little one came out to be only

5lb 8oz - don't believe what the sonograms tell you....

Just know that God knows what is healthy for you and the baby and he'll be

sure to take care of both of you!!
