Hi Tracey,

For totally different reasons, I have had really messed up periods

most of my adult life (pcos). I didn't ovulate, even with clomid a

few yrs ago. After having my WLS, I got a period every month...But,

still couldn't tell when I was ovulating because they were anywhere

from 20-40 days in length. I was given permission to start trying at

9 mos post op (Feb 2004) and blessedly, unexpectedly, miraculously

conceive the first try.

What helped me understand my body rhythms more than anything else

was a book called the " Fertility Awareness Method " ...It not only

looks at temp changes, but cervical shape changes and mucous changes

throughout your cycle. It really helped me become aware of what my

body was doing and when, and was a greater indicator of where I was

in the cycle. I didn't even try an ovulation kit knowing how funny

my body is...I highly recommend this excellent resource book..

Best of luck in ttc!
