Guest guest
Hello ladies. I am 17 weeks pregnant and just found out that I have a pilonidal cyst at the base of my spine. I had my suspicions, but finally went to the doctor because it was really bothering me. It really hurts to sit and even lay on my back now. I am afraid it will impact my labor and delivery positions. I will see a general surgeon for consult and suggestions and mention it to my OBGYN, but I don't think anything can be done about it until after the baby arrives in December or January. Has anyone ever had a pilonidal cyst or experienced the surgery for it? Thanks, Diane
Guest guest
I had one of these nasty little tings right in the top of my butt crack(sorry thats the only way to explain). I went to the ER because I thought it was something else and the surgeon came in looked at it and said he would take it out that night. All he had to do was give me a local all the way around the cyst and once I was numb he did his job and 20 min later I was driving myself home. It was really not a big deal. Good luck!! Guest guest
I don't understand why your doc wouldn't take care of the cyst immediately. My husband is prone to them and goes in on an outpatient basis for lancing and removal. The only thing I can think of that might hold them back from doing something would be the local anasthetic they would use before removal. After removal he is put on antibiotics, but that is it and they should be able to put you on some that will agree with your pregnancy. I honestly can't see why any doc would not treat you for the cyst as soon as possible, since allowing it to hang around for another 23 weeks would be beyond agonizing and the associated infection could be really bad for you and bb.
