Guest guest
Hey Pam, I don't mean to butt in.. but I wanted to comment on this.. I have also had 2 miscarriages and low progesterone was blamed in the end.. This go round, I started the progesterone gel (Crinone 8% gel) after I found out I was pg and continued it through the entire 1st trimester.. No problems! We are going to start trying in a few weeks. > > Thanks, Pam I was in the middle of moving to a new home when I was 2 weeks pregnant and the move took a whole month so I suspected but got it confirmed at the doc's at just about 6 weeks and started the supps then. I have had more than a dozen miscarriages and at several points I was told i made almost zero progesterone so we knew I would have to watch it. one reason why is I frequently put out 2 eggs, as I did in this case. on my first ultrasound at 6 1/2 weeks we saw the heartbeat but doc also saw a second sac being reabsorbed with no way to tell if it had been fertilized or not. Almost twins and miscarried twins are very common in my familyu. so the progesterone levels drop as the body reabsorbs one sac not realizing the other one is still viable. anyway I am 13 weeks now, due Jan 23. During infert treatment a decade ago (clomid mostly) we had several successful fertilizations that doc wouldn't give me prog. supplmements for because if it is not high enough to begin with (at least 5-6 at 4 weeks doc told me then) the progesterone cannot give you more than a point or two at that stage. Not sure if that is the standard opinion but it is what both I and my sister were told. I would take extra progesterone at the end of your cycles unless your doc advises it because it can thru your own normal rhythms off kilter. it will also make your estrogen levels drop and you need them to start the next cycle. I just wouldn't mess without unless the doc tells you to. At my appt. last friday doc said I could stop taking the suppositories and I was just so happy. We have had 2 ultrasounds and heard the heartbeat again last week on the doppler I rented a doppler heartbeat monitor and it should arrive in the next few days. that will keep me reassured about baby's safety. I'll worry about this one succeeding until he or she is safely in my arms. we've wanted this so very long (15 years of marriage and I lost a baby with my first hubby too). be well!
