Guest guest
I had a Dr. or two tell me (pre-surgery) that it would be very difficult if not impossible for me to conceive because I had either PCOS, endometriosis or both. I always had had problems with my periods...VERY painful and VERY irregular (if I got 3 or 4 periods a year, that was a lot). Once I had my WLS my cycles were like clockwork. Yet, since I wasn't getting any younger and since I knew I knew my gynecological history was not the greatest and I knew Mark and I wanted a child some day, I had my OB/GYN do a laparoscopy on me to see what my reproductive system looked like. I thought for sure he'd tell me that I had tons of endo and would never be able to have kids. On the contrary, when I came to after my surgery, he said that he saw a couple of SMALL areas that had endo, so he took those out, but even if those would have stayed there would be no reason that I couldn't get pregnant. I felt really hopeful. (NOTE: the laparoscopy was done on 4.1.03.) When I went in early March for my regular yearly appt with my OB/GYN, he wanted to check my progesterone levels since I had been given the " green light " from my WLS surgeon to go ahead and start a family. My level was only 1.8 when it needed to be at least a 10! My doc put me on Clomid. I took one cycle of Clomid in March and we didn't get pregnant. Since my hubby had hip replacement surgery in early April, there was no reason to take the Clomid in April or May and we decided to actually wait until July. Well, the end of June, with no help from Clomid, we got pregnant!!! I was SOOOOOOO surprised. I think though, in light of my recent miscarriage at about 5 weeks pregnant, I will start the Clomid with my next cycle. Maybe that'll boost my progesterone levels enough to sustain the baby?? Does anyone know anything about that. Anyway...just my two cents and my experience with Clomid. Oh...I found out some interesting information from my mother-in-law yesterday, which is kind of why I'll be freaking out to conceive while taking Clomid. I already knew that twins ran on both Mark's parents' sides of the family. Yesterday I found out that both his Mom and his Dad also have TRIPLETS on their sides of the family. HOLY HANNAH!!! Now I know that multiples have nothing to do with the father, but they run on the mother's side, but this is just a little spooky!!! Multiples have to start somewhere, right?? And between that, the Clomid and my AMA (Advanced Maternal Age...I'll be 37 in Sept and the older you are when you conceive, the greater your chances for multiples), I'm freaking out!!! Twins I could handle. TRIPLETS though?? Oh my goodness!!! LOL Have a great day! Love and peace... Melody
