Alison,

I would be careful with the patch. I was told by my previous GYN and my

current GYN that the patch isn't guaranteed for overweight people. I

questioned

this when my surgeon suggested going on the patch and I knew someone who was

overweight (not by much, not nearly as much as I was at the time) and she

got pregnant. I even know a woman who was average size and she got pregnant

while on the patch. I know it is successful for a lot of people. But when two

GYN's tell me something isn't guaranteed if you are overweight.. I listen.

I am on the pill. I am a little concerned about it though, I am going to

talk to my surgeon when I go down for my 3 month post op. I have heard that we

don't absorb all our medications and that is how a lot of women end up

pregnant after surgery. I was thinking of going on the ortho-evra patch since

that

is absorbed through the skin. I don't want to put my body through having a

baby right after wls. any input would be great. thanks.

I have discussed that with my ob/gyn. He is a PCOS specialist. I just got on the

pill and I am concerned about not absorbing it all and I do qualify for the

patch as far as weight wise. I obviously didn't before. I am leery of both the

patch and the pill, but I am not sure what to do. Any input is greatly

appreciated. I don't want to get pregnant until my ob/gyn and my surgeon both

say it is ok. I just feel that my body has gone through enough with the surgery.

The surgery went well and so has my recovery, but it is a lot for the body to

handle. Being pregnant under regular circumstances can be a risk in itself. I

just know that right now is not the right time and I don't want to jeopardize my

health, let alone a baby's.
