Antidepressants during pregnancy?

Hello Everyone! Just wondering if any of you were on antidepressents

when you conceived, if you were able to stay on them during

pregnancy? What were you on? I really need to look in to some and

I'm not pg yet but want to know if there is anything I can stay on.

They let me stay on zoloft during my last pg but I'm not really happy

with that.

Any ideas?

Hi I don't normally post on here as I just read

everything instead. I was on prozac when I conceived

my first bub and stayed on it during the pregnancy as

I was told it was safe. After she was born we found

out that it crosses the placenta and bub went through

withdrawals from the prozac which I hated. I stayed

off it for my last pregnancy and for through okay

thankfully.

Hello Lori,

I was on effexor when I conceived with this pregnancy. I weened myself off with

the help of my primary and ob - it was my choice. I felt better mentally than I

had in quite a while and a lot of my issues have to do with hormones and PMS.

My niece started taking antidepressants midway through her pregnancy - she was

horribly depressed and could not even get out of bed. She has a very healthy

baby and even breastfeeds.

The safety of the mother outweighs the small risk of the antidepressants.

I wasn't on any antidepressants when I conceived, but during my second

trimester, my OB prescribed 20g of Prozac for me. I researched it and found that

the

studies have shown that it is (relatively) safe during pregnancy. As with

any drug, you still have to outweigh the pros with the cons.
