i had my roux en y lap 3 months ago and just found out im pregnant i

called my surgeon and spoke w/the nurse and she was not very

reassuring. She took a long pause when I asked her if I would have

to abort. Do any of you guys have some insight for me? Would

greatly appreciate it.

I just wanted to say that I had my Gastric bypass on Feb 23, 2004 and I got

pregnant in June. So I was about 4 months out. My surgoen was non thrilled

with me but it was an acident. We werent trying. The hardest part has been

trying to get enough food in. I am takin g my vitamens. And drinking lots of

water. So far I am 12 weeks along and have heard the heart beet at the 10 week

check up and the baby mesured normal with the 8 week ultrasound. Please don't

think that you have to consider not having the baby because of the surgery.

Everything will be okay, and next year you will have this perfect little being

in your arms. Good luck with what ever choice you make.

Oh.... such a personal issue.

But let me share MY experience.

I got preggers at 10 weeks post op.. after having 1 preemie and 1 miscarriage.

I was/am high risk to begin with...

If you want this baby.. then you call every dr on your list of providers and

ask them

if they feel comfortable treating a Gastric Bypass patient....

when you find one that sayes YES... run to them!!

Yes.. I am more tired this time... but at 25 weeks... feeling baby Jonah

move...

he is worth every nap I take!

OH E, there is no reason to abort. while being pregnant so soon out is

difficult and harder then most, it's mostly on you, no the baby. you have to

have faitht aht all will be okay. you do not have to abort just because you

were so soon out. i personally had Lap RNY march 12th adn currently 11 weeks

pregnant, so i ws 2 1/2 months out when getting pregnant. while it was a big

suprise, my surgeon and perinatalogist has been very supportive.

eat small and often, chew well, take vitamins and supplements and drink lots of

water and i bet everything will be fine. there are several of us on teh board

that are so soon out and we can go thru this together...good luck, try not to

freak out and congratulations!
