Guest guest
I was writing (posted) about my ob and everyone said i should try a new ob. Well, my pcp agreed. She made me an appt for 2 days after i spoke to her, when i was off. He was young and was part of a larger ob practice, but this practice is very very near me. He is in a large large building that has family practice, lab, xray/mri/ct, peds, speech/lang, urgent care. My pcp is part of this office but her office is nearby and she is mainly family prac docs. In Sept the whole bunch will be moving to a HUGE huge building all together. I live in a suburb of Albuquerque. ANYWAY...i was very nervous to see someone other than my ob that delivered my first daughter. But, my pcp said he is not listening to me. The nurse did the usual things, had me pee in cup, bp, listened to my story... She said that the doctor would figure out what is goin on with me. She pulled up the labs i had done for my ob. The doc came in to do an exam and my boyfriend made it for the appt. The doc listened to me, did a vaginal exam (said my uterus is large) he thought because of the fibroid tumors. He tried to listen to the heartbeat but didnt hear one. I suggested an ultrasound, he agreed. He decided right off the bat that i need to see a peri doc asap and see him back in 2 wks. He did the ultrasound and the baby was movin, he said using my uterus as a trampoline. It was adorable. The peri docs fit me in fairly quickly. And the next day his nurse called and ordered a whole mess of labs. I will be interested to get a print out and post for you all. He read the labs that said my b12 was low, he said its at 198 and normal is 200. Said to wait on shots. Well, should i stay w/this guy and dump my old ob? 2nd, i had a HUGE/sharp-like lightening pain in my rectum/vagina area today, what the heck was that!?!?! OH YEA, the nurse said my due date was not the 20 but the 21 and the ultrasound said i was several more days out than the dating by lmp. Oh yea, the " new " ob said to keep active, holy moly, i can barely keep awake. After all my symptoms ive described (reminder: weak, dizzy at times, have to sit when have that feeling, when i get the spells feel like have elephant on chest/weight pulling me down, when its bad i start to sweat badly--especially back of neck--predominatly that is where gets sweaty, when really bad my tounge starts to feel numb-like i just left dentist and had a filling, when REALLY REALLY bad the lips get the same way) plus the fact that i am hardly able to eat, always sleepy, have no energy, i am SO TRYING to just make it thru a day--take care of myself. Anway, i am rambling... Yvonne/NM Open RNY 10-22-02 292/145 1 daughter born 9-97 11w.6d pregnant
Guest guest
Probably the best advice that you can get is to do what is most comfortable for you. I went back to the OB that delivered my first and he told me essentially that pregnancy after RNY is no different than any pregnancy. He will do checks on all my labs frequently but other than that there is not alot of difference. He said this pregnancy should be healthier without all that excess weight. Like most people I was very worried when I got pregnant with this one after having such an extensive surgery, but my doctor has done alot to ease my mind. I think we expectant moms get all worked up and make things worse than they really are sometimes. Just do what you think is right. You know yourself better than anyone. Guest guest
, This is also the attitude of the midwifery practice that I use. (who helped me birth Joanne) also reminded me that women the world over who are living with severe malnutrition still birth healthy babies, and even with my RNY, thanks to the extensive supplementation I do, I am not malnourished. Val reminded me that if I could breeze through my pregnancy with Joanne and have a 5 hour labor at 289 pounds, that at 150 pounds, it's likely to be easier still for me. Obviously, women who were infertile and/or had PCOS when they were fat are likely to have issues during pregnancy. Each woman will be unique. But if you had babies without too much trouble when you were fat, that situation is likely to continue at a normal weight. Research on actual RNY patients out of California supports this theory and indicates few complications even for women who had difficult pregnancies/births when MO and SMO. Post WLS, 145# lighter, pregnancy nearly killed me. As we have discussed before, I am the variance, not the *norm*. Perhaps Oprah will take me up on my offer to let her do a show on the *dark* side of pregnancy after WLS. lol Would I get pregnant again after all of the probs I have encountered since getting preg post WLS? in a heartbeat and thats all that matters in the world to me! Guest guest
how far along are you supposed to be. When was first day of last pd? Good that the baby looks great on US. " He read the labs that said my b12 was low, he said its at 198 and normal is 200. Said to wait on shots " ===>>> normal B12 is like 200-900, so you are WAY low, not just low by 2 points. Yes you should take injections. I also take 5,000mcg of B12 sublingually (under tongue) 2-3 times a week. My last B12 level was over 1,000. > Well, should i stay w/this guy and dump my old ob? (do whatever makes YOU feel the most confortable!) > 2nd, i had a HUGE/sharp-like lightening pain in my rectum/vagina area today, what the heck was that!?!?! <--- I haven't a clue!
