Hi,

I had lap RNY Sept 2004. So far I have lost 178 pounds. I found out

I was 5 weeks pregnant a few days ago. I was wondering if anyone

knows if you still get morning sickness after gastric bypass

surgery. I had it really bad with my first two children before

surgery, but so far I have not gotten sick yet. I don't want to get

morning sickness of course, but I have always heard that it's a good

sign of a healthy pregnancy. Thanks for listening!

Great question!! I'll be interested in knowing that answer too. I was horibly

sick with my first one (she's almost 11 now) and it made my pregnancy less than

enjoyable. I'm hoping with pregnancy after RNY it will be better.

I was also very sick throughout the whole pregnancy with my first 3 children

before my RNY... with this one I have not been sick at all. I actually had a

hard time believing I was pregnant because of the lack of nausea and vomiting

this time. Guess it just depends on the person

Becky!

First of all, CONGRATS! I am TTC right now, surgery date 5-9-03.

With my son I did not have much morning sickness at all. At that

time I was told by older relatives that I would have a boy bc of the

lack of Morning sickness. Old wives tales say that girls cause a

lot more morning sickness than boys. Maybe it's a boy this time.

oh becky, i'm afraid to tell you, that you can get morning sickness after

bypass...i got it so bad, they have me on meds 4 times a day to tryt to keep

anything down. my morning sickness with both my son (pre-WLS) and this one hit

right at 7 weeks. with teh child pre WLS it did not stop til he was born, so

i'm suspicious this will be the same way. lol. mainly tho it's not food you

throw up, it's saliva as your food goes out of your tummy so quickly. good

luck, i hope you don't get it, but you most likely will. zofran is a wonderful

thing tho...lol...(that's the med i'm on to prevent throwing up)
